Description
David Koch has earned his spot on The Chronicle of Philanthropy's top fifties list by putting his millions into medical research, the arts, and education. When he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he founded the David H. Koch Chair of the Prostate Cancer Foundation to help donate money to finding a cure. For the arts, he has pledged to donate $100 million over ten years for the New York State Theater in the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, now called the David H. Koch Theater in his honor. In Education, he used $68 million for the Deerfield Academy’s Koch Center for science, mathematics and technology. For these and other contributions, he has been honored with the Double Helix Medal for Corporate Leadership award, and has been named the first and only Lifetime Trustee.
