"The World Health Organization (WHO) was established in 1948 on April 7th, now known as World Health Day, the World Health Organization was first discussed when diplomats met to form the United Nations in 1945. Its role is to provide leadership on matters critical to health, shaping the research agenda and stimulating the processing of knowledge, as well as setting norms and standards regarding policies, and project implementations. WHO operates under a 6-point agenda, promoting development, health security, strenghthening health systems, harnessing research and information, enhancing partnerships, and improving performance of various programs.

The World Health Report was first published in 1995 and is WHO’s leading publication with the main purpose of providing information needed to inform policy and funding decisions, as well as for use in universities, teaching hospitals and by all who are interested in international health issues."
