Jeffrey Wigand, Tobacco Industry Whistleblower

Title

Jeffrey Wigand, Tobacco Industry Whistleblower

Description

Jeffrey Wigand, the one-time tobacco executive, is now known synonymously with the term "whistleblower". When he realized how his company, Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp., misled consumers about the addictive nature of nicotine, ignored research of cancer-causing agents, and how the company hid documents that could be used against itself in lawsuits, he stepped forward by delivering a damning disposition that eventually led to the tobacco industry's $246 billion litigation settlement. His experience caused him to lose his family, his privacy, and his reputation. Eventually, he has reconcilled with his children and now is in large demand to speak at organizations, businesses, and schools. Wigand is now even more candid than ever regarding the tobacco industry
